Progress Report #2
Target Marketing
I work with several girls that hold the job titles of sales representatives. They are the people who personally contact businesses to buy advertisement space in Modern Luxury Dallas magazine. This is a crucial part of the magazine business and at this point in time a hard sell with businesses pulling from there marketing money first thing.
I sat in on a Monday morning meeting to find out that the magazines numbers were down along with there ad sales. The area publisher who is over Houston, Dallas and Atlanta came in to hold a team meeting. He was a very motivational speaker and really gave inspirational input. He gave the team creative ways to go about talking to a future client. He really got into what he was talking about and was very passionate about it.
The next day I was able to go around and visit clients personally with another co-worker. Making frequent face calls keeps a good relationship and allows for networking. We were able to speak with all the clients and fill them on what’s new with the magazine. They really appreciated the time to stop by and follow up with everyone and bring the montly issue that there advertisement was in. To see the final ad come out and see the lay out in magazine really made people want to come back with a follow up ad for the next issue.
Although with everything moving to web it makes it even harder for people in this job industry. What keep the sales people going is that there is still a market for magazines and also a way to put it online at the same time. Such as the newly formed website for Modern Luxury, where you can find the monthly magazine page by page and virtually flip each page. Going digital is just another way to keep people informed; just like there new facebook page does. These are perfect examples of ways to convert to an online audience. This keeps both online readers as well as consumers that are prescribed to the magazine happy. You get to see first hand on how to work with what the people want and how to go about doing it.

Good report. I'm still not quite clear about the work that you do at the firm. Try to use your job as a focus for discussing the activities of your employer so I can see how your TC efforts fit in.
